Surviving Sewers and Drain Blockages

The smell was foul, and although I was trying not to gag, I was amused that my mother-in-law finally found a way to ruin her yard more than it already was. It smelled like the entire yard just passed gas, and it didn't look much better. Being the manly man that I try to be I was nice enough to offer my help (with a few threats from the wife) in resolving the issue. The first step was to inform her that the reason her sewage pipe was backed up was because she never had it cleaned and she flushed too much solids. I was then informed that she didn't flush solids, which was too much information. Apparently I cannot think straight when I can't breathe.

We sat down with a phonebook and a bottle of odor spray and started looking. Some told us the sewer and drain needed to be replaced, some told us to buy a special kit, yet I wondered how they diagnosed the problem without seeing it.

When I reached Bosco they didn't offer anything. They just told me they would be right over. Now these people are like surgeons when it comes to sewers and drain blockages. They didn't just tell me where it was blocked, but why. Apparently a tree root grew into the pipe and blocked it off.

I started to fidget, looking for a place to hide my checkbook. The relief set in when they told me they could fix it without replacing everything. They explained they would remove the root, repair the crack and get things going again.

Then I was shocked twice in a row. First these people didn't tell me it would be a week. They said they would do it now! On top of that they showed me the root killer to use to keep it from happening again. I didn't know that the roots generally grew in from the top! They checked the slopes before they were done as I was taught steep slopes make the water rush too quickly, leaving solids behind to backup. Never have I seen a drainage disaster resolved so quickly, with such great service, and at such an affordable price. I should have hired the stupid ones for my mother in law. I should have kept Bosco for myself.
